Under the hood

TAD’s scoring engine uses a weighted model with cross-validation against self-reported pain points. CSV data from Jira or Linear improves confidence ratings. The engine pattern-matches against 9 structural bottleneck types and generates root-cause analysis with specific recommended actions. Data confidence and SLE integrity are evaluated as separate analytical layers in Plus and Pro.

The six scoring dimensions — Flow, WIP, Throughput, Intake, Structure, and Visibility — each map to specific operational conditions. A score of 3 on WIP, for example, means WIP limits exist but are regularly exceeded. A score of 1 on Intake means work enters the system outside any defined process. These are not subjective grades — they correspond to measurable system states derived from flow-based delivery principles.

When tool data is provided (via CSV export from Jira, Linear, or Azure DevOps), the engine cross-references self-reported answers against actual cycle time distributions, WIP counts, and throughput patterns. This dual-validation approach increases data confidence and surfaces discrepancies between what teams believe about their system and what the data actually shows.

Why this works

Most diagnostic tools give you a score and leave you to interpret it. TAD was built by an operator who spent years inside engineering delivery systems — diagnosing the same structural failures this model now detects automatically. The scoring weights, bottleneck patterns, and analytical layers all come from real delivery transformation work, not theory.

That’s the difference between a survey and a diagnosis.

Common questions
How long does the diagnostic take to complete?

Lite takes under 10 minutes. Plus takes 15–20 minutes per team, with your scored report delivered within 48 hours. Pro engagements are scoped based on team count and typically deliver a full report within 5–10 business days.

Do I need to provide Jira or tool data?

No. The diagnostic works with self-reported intake responses alone. However, if you provide a CSV export from your work management tool, data confidence increases significantly and the engine can cross-validate your answers against actual delivery patterns.

What makes this different from an agile maturity assessment?

Maturity assessments evaluate practice adoption — standups, retros, planning. TAD evaluates system behavior — is work actually flowing, are WIP limits holding, is your SLE statistically valid. As the Kanban University research demonstrates, you can adopt every practice in the book and still have structural delivery failure. TAD finds those failures.

Is this useful if we already have delivery metrics?

Especially if you already have metrics. Metrics tell you what happened. TAD tells you why it happened and where to intervene. Most teams with mature metrics dashboards still can’t answer: which team should we fix first, and what’s the root cause? TAD answers both.
